Ontario Affordability Fund

Overview
The Affordability Fund was set up by the Affordability Fund Trust with the aim to make energy more affordable for Ontarians. The Affordability Fund’s goal is to serve Ontarians who do not qualify for low income conservation programs such as the Home Assistance Program or Home Winter proofing Program but who want to conserve energy and reduce their electricity bills now and in the future. The Affordability Fund is being promoted by local electricity distributors and utilities across Ontario who are working with community partners to promote and deliver the program on behalf of the Trust. The goal of the Affordability Fund is to make 50,000 homes more energy efficient.

How Do I qualify for the AffordAbility Fund?
In order to find out if you qualify for free energy conversation assistance you will need to complete a short
questionnaire on the Affordability Fund website:

We encourage all homeowners who do not qualify for the Home Assistance Program or Home Winter proofing to complete the online questionnaire, it only takes a few minutes and if you are approved it may result in thousands of dollars worth of benefits. If you do qualify for funding the Affordability Fund will contact you.
What kind of Energy Conservations Programs are Available?
Depending on the results of the questionnaire the Affordability Fund will determine just how much funding you are entitled to and provide you with one of three different levels.
Level One- Basic
With Level One funding homeowners will receive a Home Energy Kit with upgrades that a homeowner can easily install themselves. This may include:
• ENERGY STAR® light bulbs
• a power bar
• faucet aerators
• energy-saving tips
The equipment that can be offered at this level includes:
• block heater timer
• smart power bar
• efficient shower heads
• aerators
• hot water pipe insulation
• LED light bulbs
Level Two
With Level Two funding homeowners will receive:
• an in-home visit from a professional Home Energy Advisor
• a Home Energy Plan and upgrades that may include ENERGY STAR® appliances.
The equipment that can be offered at this level includes:
• refrigerators
• freezers
• window air conditioners
• dehumidifiers
• programmable thermostats
Level Three- Electric heated homes
Level Three applies to electrically heated homes only. Funding includes:
• an in-home visit from a professional Home Energy Advisor
• a Home Energy Plan and upgrades that may include insulation
• an ENERGY STAR® heat pump
The equipment that may be offered at this level includes:
• heat pumps
• comprehensive draft proofing
• attic insulation
• wall insulation
